On Monday, September 10th,
2012, The APAA was honoured to have Sheetal Gupta from the ICAO visit York
University and deliver an informative speech about the ICAO and the CA
designation.
This Information Session was an
eye opener in the sense that I learned so many things that I did not know
beforehand about the ICAO and CA designation. Sheetal talked about the steps that a person must take in order to
acquire their CA. They are required to complete the 51 CA course credits and
then write the CKE, SOA, and then UFE. I also learned that the CA designation
offers many travel opportunities which I love because travelling is around the
world is one of my dreams. I also learned that CAs have the opportunity to be
very successful. Sheetal showed us that many famous CEO’s of major corporations
are also Chartered Accountants. Therefore, I saw that CAs are one the important
decision makers in corporations. At the end of the information session, Sheetal
made this Information Session fun and interactive. Students were asked questions
and were given prizes for answering the question. Students were also given the opportunity
to ask Sheetal questions and network.
By the end of the information session,
I KNEW that becoming a CA is what I want to do.
